The monthly meeting of the Southern Independent Youth Football & Cheerleader League, Inc. was held on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 418 Morgantown Road, Natchez, Mississippi. The meeting was hosted by Coach/Secretary Patrick Davis, Ms-Lou Saints, and convened at 3:20PM. Vice President Stacy Fells, Jr., Southern Mississippi Wildcats, chaired the meeting in the absence of president Bates. The following is a brief synopsis of actions taken by the Board of Directors.
All teams that participate in the Southern Independent Youth Football & Cheerleader League, Inc. shall be required to fully adopt Heads UP football.
Commissioner David Walker with the Wilkinson County Wildcats Youth Football & Cheerleader program is assigned the responsibility of coordinating the SIYF&CL’s efforts to ensure full compliance of all League participating teams.
Commissioner Walker has been in contact with Mr. Ian Holmes, USA Football Youth Regional Manager Southeast and will work with Mr. Holmes to bring a Player Safety Coach (PCS) Clinic to our area for our teams. The Wilkinson County Wildcats Youth Football & Cheerleader program will host this event.
The Board determined that a State issued Identification Cards is required for all participating players during League certification.
There was a discussion concerning several teams that expressed desire to join the Southern Independent Youth Football & Cheerleader League, Inc. The deadline for new League members is May 1, 2017.
The 2017 League fee is set at $300.00. $250.00 of the League fee is due no later than May 1, 2017.
The 2017 League rules will be updated to reflect changes during the off-season and will be provided to each member organization and referees prior to the beginning of the 2017 season. coach Jason Dixon, Southern Mississippi Wildcats, is assigned the responsibility of updating the rules which will be presented to the Board for final approval.
Coach “DJ” Jackson (Wilkinson County Wildcats) and Coach “Mooky” McGaffeny (Southern MS Titans) are organizing the 2017 Southern Independent Youth Football & Cheerleader League Jamboree to be held on August 19, 2017. The Jamboree is scheduled to be held on the Wilkinson County Wildcats Youth Football home field in Woodville, Mississippi. The Schedule for teams participating in the Jamboree will be completed after confirmation of their participation. Deadline for confirmation is August 5, 2017.
Southern Independent Youth Football & Cheerleader League, Inc.’s 2017 regular season will begin on Saturday, August 26, 2017.
