USA Football 2018 National Conference

2017-12-12

Area Youth Football Administrator and Coach to attend USA Football 2018 USA Football National Conference

Wilk-Amite Youth Action Network President David Walker has accepted an invitation to attend, as a Gold VIP, the USA Football 2018 National Conference at the Pro Bowl. The National Conference will be held at the Orlando World Center Marriott, Orlando Florida on January 26-28, 2018. Coach Patrick Davis of the Natchez Saints will also be in attendance at the Conference.

The conference will provide excellent Networking and valuable training to include:

Non-Profit Governance for Youth Leagues - Tactics and effective methods to lead an organization. This includes defining and establishing culture in your organization, recruiting leaders who share the same goals, setting expectations, communication strategies and many more helpful tips.

Youth League Recruitment and Training of Officials - Game officials are an integral part of youth football, serving as both a game-day rules enforcer and partnering with coaches in how players perform on the field. Learn how to recruit, educate and keep quality youth football officials within your organization, building crews that work well together and within the entire football community.

American Development Model League Implementation Panel-This session will be a town hall style meeting co-hosted by USA Football’s Football Development Department and Commissioners from Rookie Tackle pilot programs. It aims to discuss the core principles of the American Development Model, key applications for the sport of football and best practices from active Rookie Tackle leagues to give your league or organization ideas and best practices for implementing in your organization.

Youth League Heads Up Football Implementation-Presented by Youth Regional Managers -USA Football has worked with leaders in both medicine and sport across the country to create a full-featured program that any league or school can use to address key safety issues — empowering coaches to implement each component of the program. Commissioners know that safety comes first — both for the players on the field and their parents on the sidelines. Having a Heads- Up Football program in place, with teams led by USA Football certified coaches, goes a long way toward showing that youth football is being taught the right way and that parents feel confident about your league.

The 10 Pillars of Long-Term Athletic Development for Football - Presentation Sponsored by the National Strength and Conditioning Association Attendees will learn the 10 Pillars of LTAD from the recent NSCA position statement on LTAD and relate how each pillar can be applied to football. The 10 Pillars provide guidance on developing athleticism for all youth ages 6-18 years and connect ideas on motor skill proficiency, muscle strength, testing, supervision, and supporting physical activity across the life span.

Youth Football Offense – Presenter explains how to create an effective youth offense which builds through the course of the program all the way to the varsity level.

Youth Football Defense - From the eyes of a veteran high school football coach, here are defensive techniques and schemes (age appropriate) that will help the youth coach prepare a weekly game plan adjusting to the many offensive philosophies a youth coach may face. These techniques and schemes will also be an excellent foundation for the future of the young players as they continue their football pathway toward high school and college football.

Coach Davis and I are excited about this opportunity and will share all of the information with you upon our return from the Conference.
